About Me

Ryan Brown is a 20 year old female who enjoys witty retorts, long train rides, and black coffee. She is sexually attracted to writing talent and dislikes bio statements that provide actually useful information.

She is also given to unnecessarily subdividing her life, and therefore blogs about her travels at a separate location:

The End

Last night was grand. Most everyone Matt and I were close to in Whitesburg came out to say goodbye to us. The night was warm-but-not-too-warm and people sat on the porch eating hot dogs and talking until it got too dark to see. One of my bosses brought me a hat that he knitted for me (!!) and the other one stayed late humoring my need for a weird, cosmic State of My Life conversation. They’re both great people and I’m sad to see them go (or rather, sad to see me go away from them). Anyway, the night ended like many good nights in my life, with a rousing game of Kings (Matt, Ada, Janine, Jon, Sylvia, me) and some good old-fashioned small town gossip.

This morning Matt and I got up early, lugged all our bags out to his car, and went off to meet a couple friends for our last meal in Whitesburg- greasy diner-style breakfast, of course. Mmm. After saying goodbye to them, we left-got in Matt’s car and started heading east towards Raleigh. Just as simply as that. There was no real dramatic last moment or anything. It just ended. And now the Whitesburg epic is over. I really can’t process it any more than that right now, and I’m a little afraid if I do I’ll become too mopey to function, so I’m going to hold off. But expect some more kentucky musings and pictures to come…

In the meantime, I’m off to vacation with the mother and sister in Mexico. My mom’s idea of a vacation involves as much sleep and as little movement as possible, so I’m prepping for a week of catching up on good books and maybe finally starting the writing projects I’ve been procrastinating on all summer. It should be chill, to say the least. And then it’s back to Denver and finding a project to keep me busy for the rest of the summer. Stay tuned.
